Today is my day
The start of my period is Day 1 - what about the other days?
Every day of the menstrual cycle has its own energy and power. To understand that power, I first need to know what day I am.
Every day, let me say, today is my day. #todayismyday
Use the ‘What Day Am I?’ calculator below - whenever you you want to know your day, phase and season.

Menstruation / Inner Winter
If we could make time to pause during menstruation or our Inner Winter (even if only for half an hour!), regardless of the problems our period brings, we may well find that as our Inner Winter passes, we’re in a better place to face the busyness of the world we will inevitably face in the Inner Spring, Summer and Autumn of our next cycle.

Preovulation / Inner Spring
Inner Spring, or preovulation - roughly a week after the Inner Winter of menstruation - is an ideal time to start something new and to plan for the rest of our cycle - will we need extra support later on? Can we plan and prepare for this now?
We might also have a sense of relief that menstruation is over and, with that relief, a sense of freedom and empowerment in our own bodies - but preovulation or Inner Spring can also sometimes be a vulnerable child-like place in the cycle, where our world can feel harsher than usual. Being aware of this can help us to go a little easier on ourselves until we're clear of the early part of the phase and heading towards our Inner Summer.

Ovulation / Inner Summer
Roughly two weeks after menstruation, Inner Summer - or the ovulation phase - can be a time of peak outward full production energy - perhaps we can spin 100 plates, stay up all night, work or study late, tackle big jobs, provide for everyone.
This is a time to really take care not to overstretch but also to revel in how good it can feel to be in full flow, when we can manifest our plans.
NB: Ovulation - when we release an egg that can become fertilised if we have sex - usually occurs 10-14 days before our next period starts but it can vary from cycle to cycle and everyone is different.

Premenstrual / Inner Autumn
The potential of this phase, roughly a week before menstruation, is to use it to question how any plans made in the pre-ovulation or Inner Spring are coming along: to figure out what’s working in life and what’s not - and to make sure we are prepared for menstruation, or Inner Winter. Do you need extra support next week? Is there anything you can do now to help you do have a pause at menstruation (even if only for half an hour!).

A typical menstrual cycle is between 21 and 35 days but menstrual cycles shorter than 21 days and longer than 35 days may be normal for you.
Check out our free course to further explore your normal and how to get to know every day of your menstrual cycle so you’re quickly able to notice and evidence anything out of your ordinary.
Go and see your doctor if anything is worrying you about your menstrual cycle.
*Please note:
We all know that our menstrual cycles are rarely ‘neat’ and can vary from month to month in length. However, here and in the course - simply as a guide to get us started - we’ve used a menstrual cycle of 28 days with each phase being ‘neatly’ divided into about a week. Join the course to find out how long each of your phases are and how you experience each phase/inner season.
