Parents / Guardians: Consent Information
Parental consent for children under 13 years of age (i.e. 11 and 12 year olds)
According to UK data law, Article 8, under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), parental consent is required for any child under the age of 13 to use a web application, meaning that a child under 13 cannot legally give their own consent to data processing and must have their parent or legal guardian provide consent on their behalf.
The Menstrual Cycle Support for pre/teens & young people is classed as a “web application”.
Children under the age of 13 years (secondary school age)
The course is also suitable for those under 13 yrs (recommended: 11 years and 12 years i.e. secondary school age).
We have therefore created an online parental consent form.
In accordance with the law, which asks us to take reasonable steps to help verify that the person providing consent is the child’s legal guardian, the online parental consent form also requires the parent/guardian to respond to an automated verification link sent to their email address.
Children aged 13 years and above
Children aged 13 and above can legally give their own consent to data processing on a web application (without parental consent).
If you have a child aged 13 years and above, they can enrol in the course independently. Please be assured that the course is clinically-backed, evidence-informed and peer-reviewed by clinicians, researchers and educators. Please see our page Clinical / Professional Assurance for further information.

What do we do with parent / guardian information collected?
We will store your data safely, so that you / your child are able to log back into the course. We will never sell your (or your child’s) data to third parties.
From time to time, we may send you, by email, information about Menstrual Cycle Support. You can opt out of this (or change your mind, at any time).

What do we do with your child’s data collected?
Your child will receive information by email, including follow up course questionnaires and, from time to time, information about Menstrual Cycle Support. Your child will never receive any emails from Menstrual Cycle Support that attempt to sell products for financial gain.
We store your child’s log in identity data, so they may come back to the course.
We also collect other data in our online course before and after questionnaire – this data is collected anonymously – it will never be linked to your child’s identity.
If your child is from an Accredited School, your child has the option to consent to their first and last name being sent to the school on completion of the course so that the school can recognise their efforts/ reward them. Otherwise, we do not share any personal information about your child with the school. We will never sell any of your child’s data to third parties.
