Menstrual Cycle Support Course to be CPD accredited
Menstrual Cycle Support has become a CPD - Continuing Professional Development - Member and is putting its online free Menstrual Cycle Support Course through the rigorous assessment provided by The CPD Certification Service, used by NHS England, University of Oxford and National Autistic Society, among others.
CPD, or Continuing Professional Development, is a requirement of many workplaces or professional bodies for its employees or members who are encouraged or expected to complete certified CPD courses to further personal learning.
In a survey by the British Medical Journal, 80% of those who menstruate reported presenteeism [working whilst unwell] and said they were less productive as a result.
Kate Shepherd Cohen, Founder, Menstrual Cycle Support, says:
"I know - from personal lived experience - that work can increase menstrual suffering, I spent years nearly doubled up with period pain whilst sitting at an office computer all day and not able to explain what was going on to my colleagues.
As a society, we should be doing everything we can to ease avoidable menstrual suffering so that the workplace supports those with a menstrual cycle to work at their best.
We believe that a CPD accreditation on the Menstrual Cycle Support Course will help to remove stigma around the menstrual cycle at work by making menstrual literacy a key additional skill for employees and employers - we're also grateful to the assessors for their expertise in ensuring all of our learning materials meet universally recognised CPD standards."
